Sorority reputations?

by: 2026

I’m going to be rushing this fall and feel like I have a general idea of most houses based on where friends/older girls from hs ended up, but I can’t seem to get a good read on Chi O, DG, DZ, and ZTA

With Chi O and DZ, I’ve heard that Chi O is considered the bottom out of the historical old row houses whatever that actually means but that they’re still considered solid mid tier. I’ve heard DZ is in between mid and bottom but I don’t personally know anyone who got a bid to either house last year or the year before, so idk if that’s accurate or what personality types tend to fit in there.

With DG, my aunt was a DG here in the early 2000s and said they sucked back then lol but she also said it was just a few years after they had been kicked off campus and she hasn’t kept up with alumni but thinks they’re doing a lot better now than when she was a member. From girls in my HS, some seem to think DG is solid mid kinda like DZ but others say they’re still kinda bad so idk what to believe?

Then ZTA seems to have a top reputation, but idk what their vibe is since the only girl I know who got a bid there last year is really pretty (like does amateur modeling) but she’s also really quiet and was really antisocial in hs (and she almost never posts pics doing sorority stuff since bid day last year and I think formal or something). Is that pretty much what ZTA is like overall, or are they mostly more fun/social?

I’m planning to keep an open mind regardless of where I end up, although I’m hoping to not get SDT, DPhiE or AXiD since they don’t seem like typical sororities as much. But I’m worried that it’ll be hard to tell all the sororities apart during the craziness of rush week and I’d like to end up somewhere that matches my vibe. I’m pretty outgoing and like doing social stuff, but not just parties if that makes sense. Like I’m also kinda athletic, so I’d ideally like to join a sorority that has an intramural volleyball team and girls who’d want to train for half marathons with me etc… not just go out to bars and frat parties every weekend

Other than hearing about those 4 sororities I don’t know much about, I’d also love any recommendations for where I might fit in (knowing I can’t necessarily choose where I’d get a bid, it might at least help me get an idea of which ones to rank higher/lower in the early rounds of recruitment). So far, I’ve heard KKG, SK, GPhi, and AOPi as possibly having more chill, athletic girls but definitely open to other houses too

I can’t really speak for the other 3, but zeta has a mix of personalities. They aren’t all quiet by any means, and certainly not antisocial. They do heavily recruit based on looks, but they’re also arguably one of the more athletic houses. I’m not sure about IM teams, but they have a number of student athletes, a few cheerleaders and dance dawgs, and plenty of recreational runners, including 3-4 that I ran with like twice a week all last year haha

You have no idea what you are saying, DG was never kicked off campus. This proves the BS that gets posted on greekrank. Anyone believing the crap on here and trying to get a baseline for their rush ranking decisions from internet strangers starts off poorly and has a bad rush, happens all the time. This is YOUR rush, not anyone else's so just go through it and make up your own damn mind based on the people you meet. If you don't, you deserve whatever result you get.

Tbf it was like 30+ years ago and it was more of a temporary suspension afaik. Plus, they’re a pretty solid mid tier house currently, so it’s kinda weird that a pnm would be concerned about something that happened before she was even born lol.

Ironically my mom was also a Georgia DG in the early 2000s, and she’s definitely told me some funny stories about how they were back then.

At any rate, it’s 2026, not 2006, and they’re a perfectly average sorority now though

Surprised no one mentioned chi o yet since they have a fairly unique vibe. They’re hard to rank since they really don’t care about looks at all, but they have socials with a mix of mid/top tier frats, and are known for being kinda wild but also kinda chill and alt if that makes sense. Like they’d rather leave the bars early to go back and smoke weed at a frat house with their homies if that makes sense. I don’t see them as athletic compared to most of the other sororities, but if running is your thing, you should be able to find girls to run with no matter where you end up just based on numbers alone.

Also, no one actually cares about “old row” status anymore outside of those 5 sororities (and even they don’t take it seriously except for the occasional try-hard freshman).

don’t take this as absolute fact but this is my experience:
every chi o i know is super fun and very fashionable and cute. i think they’re pretty diverse and you would def find your crowd there! i’d say they have the reputation + socials of a “top” sorority minus the snobbiness if that makes sense? idk don’t come for me.
i know a good handful of people in DG. they’re very nice and have some super cute girls!!! some people i know in last year’s pc feel that there isn’t really a sense of chapter unity or pride, but others love it there and have found good friends. i’d say it’s pretty comparable to agd in terms of socials and girls? not sure. i feel like people generally go for agd over dg or like pi phi. wouldn’t say they’re the most athletic but that’s just what i’ve been told by my friends.
dz has historically been pretty good and they have decent socials and things, but i’m going to be completely honest with you, i have never had a good experience with a girl in dz. i don’t want to make generalizations about the whole sorority but i also want to be honest with you that the people ive met there are really just not very nice. i feel like their reputation has kinda been soured because of this. however they are known for being very chill and could be a great fit for someone!
one of my very best friends is a zeta. she is a big runner and i think her pc is pretty athletic, but she’s also struggled to find friends. she’s a christian and not a big partier and has found that there’s a pretty harsh divide between “christian” and “party” girls, and for some reason the christian girls in her pc are not very kind or inclusive. i think zeta is a perfect fit for a certain type of person (people liken zetas to barbies a lot), and if you’re not that type of person, you might struggle there. i also have friends in older pcs that say this year’s pc is kinda crazy so who knows what pc 26 will be like! could be much much nicer.
also you probably already know this but gphi’s philanthropy is girls on the run, so that might be a good option! i have a good number of friends in gphi and they’re awesome. mostly from up north though. however, every sorority is likely going to have athletic girls, pickleball/running events, etc.
good luck with rush!!! remember that every sorority is a good sorority, and they’re so big that there are going to be people for you in every one!

When you say that SDT, DPhiE, and AXiD don't act like typical sororities I think that is wrong. They have date nights, formals, semi-formals and socials with frats just like everyone else. They are smaller than the other "typical" sororities. That is the real difference. That can be good. You will actually get to know your sorority sisters.

My roommate last year was a DZ, and I know several DGs pretty well too, so I can speak to both of those at least.

DZ - total mixed bag. Some genuinely sweet, awesome girls (like my roommate), but they do have a lot of internal conflict/drama, and a lot of mean girls and bullies, especially in their rising junior pc. Overall, they’re considered a lower mid tier house, but they aren’t known for having a close sisterhood overall. They seem decently athletic and social though. It’s more like you’d have to find your own group within you pc and might not automatically be accepted by everyone in the chapter.

DG - also a mixed bag, but for different reasons. Similarly to DZ, DG is also generally considered a lower mid tier house. Since they don’t always get their top girls during recruitment, they focus more on personality over looks, although they have gotten more competitive lately and generally seem to be trending up. They do have a closer sisterhood than DZ, while still having a variety of different types of girls. They aren’t necessarily as athletic as some other houses, but still have plenty of girls doing club or IM sports, running or doing dance, Pilates classes etc… but really you can find that in any sorority here.
