SIP cannot be taken away as an option, it is part of the NPC process. Choice is always allowed. There is no forcing anyone to commit to a sorority or not at all.

It is correct that if you pref two houses and RANK BOTH on your card you are agreeing that you will accept a bid to either. Doing so guarantees you will get a bid, but not necessarily your first choice.
But you can also Single Intentional Preference (SIP) and only put down only one choice if the other one you would never ever 100% even consider giving a chance. If you SIP you have to be willing to accept that if you don't bid match with that one house then you aren't getting a bid. It does mean that there is no binding contract though, otherwise you are bound for one full year if you are offered a bid, whether you accept it or not, or accept it and drop.
If you only have one pref house instead of two and you put it on your card you are getting that bid guaranteed.

so if i only have one house for preference that means i am guaranteed a bid from that house? so it would make sense to only go to one house for preference if you want to be guaranteed a bid?

NO, that's NOT what that means. It means that if you are only INVITED to one pref house then you will get that bid if you attend and put them on your card. Pnm's MUST go to EVERY chapter on their schedule, ALWAYS. Skipping a house on your schedule at any round will get you kicked out of recruit. Pnm's don't drop chapters, they only rank them.

That is incorrect. Quota is not set until after pref, it is NEVER a preset number. It is based on the number of pnm's signing MRABA cards after they attend pref. More pnm's signing cards = more bids, less = fewer bids.

This is correct. Quota isn’t based on the numbers of pnm’s that register, it’s based on the signed MRABAs.

The vast majority of pnm's who don't get bids are those who drop out. Very, very few are dropped by all chapters. If you stay in the process and are invited to pref you are on that bid list.

Get ready for some brutal cuts after video round.

The cuts are always percentage based. They will be proportional to chapters' return rates, as always. That translates to higher hard numbers being cut but also higher hard numbers being invited back. After all, the process is not built around getting rid of pnm's but to give as many as possible a chance at a bid. That doesn't help the sting of being cut I know, so yes, it can feel brutal, but don't take cuts personally, it's about the numbers.

do most gpa cuts happen after video round?

Yes, GPA releases are first round. The in-person rounds are based on conversations and how you present yourself in person.

Are GPA cuts always percentage based or are they a hard cutoff? As in everybody below a 2.5 (random number I just chose) gets cut by all sororities? And does anyone know what that GPA cutoff is for freshman (high school gpa) and sophomores (college gpa) ???

Each sorority has their own hard GPA cut off. After the video round each house will automatically cut those PNM‘s with a GPA lower than their cutoff number. The houses do not publish what their GPA cut off is. For freshman the GPA is high school and for sophomores the GPA is college.

It's not about automatic GPA cutoff, it's about the release figure each chapter is given. While first round cuts are heavily based on GPA, ALL CUTS are assigned to each individual chapter based on percentage. No sorority is going to cut more than they have to, GPA or not.

Each sorority is given the hard number that they can invite back and it's different for each chapter. So each will rank and select their assigned number of pnm's, with a bit of flex built in, and the other pnm's who don't make that cutoff will be released from their recruitment. Some chapters have to release more, others less, so the chapters that can carry fewer pnm's to round 1 will be harsher on the GPA cuts than ones that carry more.

And just having a good GPA is still not a guarantee for getting past round 1 with any chapter.

When Tri Delt membership picks up to be at campus total with the others then expansion will be explored. They need to be supported, not put down.
