It's not about automatic GPA cutoff, it's about the release figure each chapter is given. While first round cuts are heavily based on GPA, ALL CUTS are assigned to each individual chapter based on percentage. No sorority is going to cut more than they have to, GPA or not. Each sorority is given the hard number that they can invite back and it's different for each chapter. So each will rank and select their assigned number of pnm's, with a bit of flex built in, and the other pnm's who don't make that cutoff will be released from their recruitment. Some chapters have to release more, others less, so the chapters that can carry fewer pnm's to round 1 will be harsher on the GPA cuts than ones that carry more. And just having a good GPA is still not a guarantee for getting past round 1 with any chapter.
