Alpha Chi’s Quick Growth!

by: Pan Love

Alpha Chi has been KILLING IT! Crazy growth in the past few years! I’ve truly never seen progress this fast in a new chapter on an SEC campus! I’m not here to call anyone perfect, but simply to give credit where it is due. Great job girls! 👍

Panhellenic made an excellent decision in choosing AXO to come on here. AXO nationals have done everything right to make a very strong start with this chapter and recruited quality girls. The chapter members have the best attitude and have made their chapter succeed and grow so fast. The MSU sorority system is very healthy and supportive and all chapters have a high bar of achievement to show what sororities are supposed to be. Great, great job everyone.

AXO nationals has actually done A LOT absolutely wrong, but I will refrain from my soapbox.

I am proud of the girls! Their chapter leadership has been phenomenal over the years & lead to a lot of solid success for them! They will perform much better in the coming years now that the house has cemented their name on campus & will naturally become more known about in the state. They are already showing as best Alpha Chi in Mississippi!

Agree - reneging on the house build before finally coming through with it was a huge black eye for them. I'm glad the national org came back around and made it right. But they'd be 1.5 years further along now if nationals had done the right thing at the right time.

Any national org who plans to come on at State or Ole Miss should commit to a house build inside of 5 years before even being chosen to colonize on one of those campuses. Bottom line: no sorority will even sniff at long term, sustained success without a house.

Totally agree! This is why I have so much respect for what the girls were able to accomplish even before the news of the house! I have a good feeling to say that they shocked the national organization at how they could show an upwards trajectory without the house, forcing them to get moving with the housing project.

But didn't they come on in 2021? And broke ground in 2025? What's the issue?

Yes. They got it done in a very good (and quick) time frame. The issue is how they embarrassed the girls in ‘23. They jumped the gun selling that a house would break ground THEN. It did not. Made their own girls look like liars. No reason to bring it up now it’s all over with, but it’s a reason I’ll never pat their nationals on the back. They obviously made it right, so I don’t wish to reflect on that. Just pointing out that I don’t think nationals did them any favors; the girls themselves put the work in.

AXO agreed to come on at State in 2020. They selected their first new member class in 2021. They fully participated in recruitment for the first time in 2022.
The chapter was told in 2022 that they'd break ground in 2023. then a week before initiation in 2023, they told all the girls they'd promised a house to that they weren't getting one.
at some point in the following 6 months, nationals came back around... for reasons still unknown. And they said they'd break ground soon. It took 2 more years.
Unfulfilled promises leave a bad taste in mouths of girls who are paying dues and doing their best.
I will say, J Mullen has done all within her power to get them up and running, sometimes at the expense of other groups... but she has definitely been a force for AXO at State.

This is factual. The only good thing to come out of it was their member class that year. A lot of them went onto serve on executive boards and are now seniors. I think that’s why it appears that the whole campus was happy about Alpha Chi getting their house.. they knew what they had been through. It was a win for everyone. I am interested to know what broke through to flash the actual green light for construction this time, though.

I don't think a major national sorority purposely mislead anyone, or reneged, there were obviously some financial or other unforeseen issues that caused delay. It happens all the time with multi-million dollar building projects.
Or maybe some assumptions were made on something that was not finalized and someone misspoke? That happens too.
They did come through with fast-tracked construction, which is not easy or cheap, so that's to their credit, and it's a gorgeous new home. Happy for that chapter.

Trust me, they knew what they were doing. It is very likely that finances were truly the reason that it had to be delayed, but there is more to the story of how they did the girls dirty that’s not appropriate for this platform. They were in the wrong. Let’s just leave it at that..

If you have any real info then stop being vague and just say it, because you're coming off as inappropriate yourself like you have a personal grudge.
