I feel like I hear this every year. It’s typical as a lot of girls feel this way. There are so many girls rushing and just a certain number of spots available in each house. Don’t take it too personally.

I do suggest giving the houses you were invited back to a try. You might find you really fit in at those.

Not correct about a certain number of spots. That is not determined until after pref when all the pnm's have signed their cards. The more pnm's signing cards, the higher Quota will be.

Recruitment releases each round are made on percentages based on the number of pnm's participating in that round, not a certain number of spots. The chapters rank pnm's and submit their ranked list; the algorithm does the rest. Pnm's that are ranked high enough to make whatever cutoff a chapter is given will be on the invitation list, those below the cutoff will not. It's not personal, it's just the numbers, and each chapter is assigned a different percentage based on their historical return rates.

The chapter at large does not know exactly what their ranking lists look like when they are submitted. It's a chapter decision and only the recruitment committee sees the final list. When a pnm does not return next round, it is not always clear to the members if the chapter released her or if the pnm ranked the chapter low and had other options, because only the recruitment committee has that information.

Yes, it really stings to be cut, but understand that members also get their feelings hurt when their favorite pnm's don't return. Emotions are running high within the sororities too. Soul crushing is a good description, but each member and pnm has to put a smile back on her face and carry on, not give up.

The chapters are trying to find the best fit pnm's and when you are released it is NOT a judgement that you have been found undesirable, or unworthy, or that chapter members would not want to be friends with you.

If you feel like you connected personally with members in a chapter and there was some love there, then you did and there was, even if you got released.

By certain number of spots, I don’t mean the exact number is determined beforehand. I mean there could be 2500 girls rushing but each house is only going to take 70-110 kind of thing. There’s not an infinite number of spots available for each house. The system will determine the exact number each round - so for each round only a certain number of spots will be allowed back- so you might be cut if not far up enough on that list.
