What is “A WEIRD GIRL”?
by: PerplexedSo reading GR posts, a few referred to srats who got a lot of “weird girls” this year. PLEASE DEFINE WHAT “WEIRD” means to you? UGA IS FULL OF SMART, FREINDLY AND ACCCOMPLISHED GIRLS. Everyone is not the same, even in Greek life.

Typically when toxic people say that, they’re referring to any number of things that don’t fit the “stereotypical basic white girl” image. Importantly, I’m NOT agreeing with this type of judgement AT ALL, just trying to spell out what people really mean when they code girls as “weird”
“Weird” in this context generally refers to girls who meet at least one of the following criteria:
- overweight
- doesn’t wear makeup or follow current fashion trends; puts less effort into looking cute
- less conventionally attractive against the stereotypical basic sorority girl look
- neurodivergent (you’d be VERY surprised at how many UGA students, including sorority girls, are diagnosed with autism, adhd, anxiety disorders, eating disorders etc… or otherwise identify as having a physical or mental disability)
- lgbtq, trans, nonbinary etc…
- introverted, not interested in being “fun” around frat boys
- “nerdy” majors like math, engineering, cs etc… or even just outwardly enthusiastic about academics, especially in traditionally male-dominated fields

The neurodivergent thing is key tbh since more and more ppl with mental health diagnoses are getting access to tools and treatments that help them gain acceptance and fit in with typical social expectations, so it’s no surprise that girls who are actively WANTED and CHOSEN during recruitment might have mental health conditions and that’s not a bad thing at all!! I mean what could be better than feeling genuinely accepted into a group of incredibly women (and I say this as a sorority girl on the spectrum, so I STRONGLY advocate for acceptance in this area)

no one wants to hang around some schizo who cant stop yapping about Eric Harris, or wears a trench coat to school, or sunglasses and a hoodie on like the uni bomber, or sits in the back of the lecture hall alone like the quiet kid in hs, or writes letters to death row imates, or makes fan fiction about ted bundy, or is smoking weed all day. honestly women shouldn't be given the right to vote because all they do is vote for leftist politicians letting pajeets into this country in the millions

I’m sorry - being raised in a different location than you makes someone “weird?” God forbid someone is a different race or in different socioeconomic bracket!! Not exactly breaking the stereotype that all of the “top” sororities just recruit clones of themselves. Life is more fun and way more interesting when you expose yourself to people with different life experiences.
