Yes, you can get a bid! While pnm's who are already known do have an advantage and some chapters focus heavily on that, which is true at every single school everywhere, there are chapters that are looking for more in pnm's. Your grades, resume, and looks are important too. There are plenty of pnm's like you who barely know anyone who show up and impress. Remember that here is not a preset number of bids; the more pnm's that stay in the process and go to pref and sign cards mean more bids and if you are invited to pref you are on the bid list. Every chapter has gorgeous, sweet, fun girls. Don't get hung up on tiers or listen to gossip and you will have a good rush.

It depends on which houses you want to be apart of. The “top” ones are more competitive and likely know who they are taking. But you will most likely end up in a house, it’s just a matter of if you’re willing to take a chance on them and join. A lot of times houses look for girls from the same hometown so if you know of anyone who is currently at smu maybe ask to get coffee to get to know them and ask about smu!
