That's not how it works. This is a really ignorant comment because "barely get in" has no meaning in sorority recruitment. If a pnm gets in, she gets in, period. No pnm knows anything about where she is ranked by any sorority at any round; all she knows is if she is invited back or not, and the chapter memberships don't even see their own ranks that are submitted, only the recruitment chairmen and panhellenic see them.
Rankings of pnm's exist to be submitted for the algorithm to determine cutoff numbers, quota, and final bid matching, that's all. They carry no meaning otherwise. When a pnm is invited back she is WANTED.
Any PNM invited to pref is WANTED. Pref invitations are the sororities' last chance to make decisions on whether or not they want any pnm as a sister; they are the final releases. Any pnm invited to pref is on that sorority's bid list somewhere. If you're on the bid list you are WANTED. Bid List rankings are finalized after pref for the bid matching algorithm. There is no "barely get in"; a bid is a bid.

yes and no. although members might not know a pnm's rank, everyone knows who the top girls are. if there are 250 pnm's on a bid list, someone will be number 1 and someone will be number 250. no house wants to go to the bottom of their bid list. that's just a fact. harsh, but true.

not sure but I think that op was discouraging pnm's from dropping out of recruitment if they don't get their top choice back? like why would you want to be in a house that didn't want you?

Pnm's that a chapter likes just fine are dropped all the time simply because of numbers. That's just the way it is. It doesn't mean they weren't 'wanted', they just weren't ranked high enough to make the chapter's assigned cut off. Plenty of members get upset when their favorite pnm's don't return, it's brutal and emotional on both sides but everyone has to get on with it anyway.
But pnm's have no way of knowing if they just missed a cutoff or if they were ranked very low or whatever.
The point is, that house released them and is no longer an option, so don't focus on it (I know that's hard because it stings) and look more fairly at your actual options because that's what you have if you want to be in a sorority.

Boulder is so different than other schools. Literally no one cares what house you are in. Guys in top houses date girls in bottom houses. Girls in top houses date guys in bottom houses. This isn't the SEC and it's not that deep here. Just follow your heart and go wherever you want.

the only one's that care about rank are pnm's and they won't even care after bid day
