Social media following

Yes there will be a no contact period but rn you are totally fine to be following and getting followed by active members

This is somewhat untrue. Dirty Rushing does go both ways and pnm’s, as well as sororitites, are both accountable.

Interaction via social media (for individuals, chapters, and the College Panhellenic) is permitted to promote the
overall sorority experience (not one chapter over another), encourage participation in Panhellenic recruitment
and answer specific questions about joining sororities on campus. There are no restrictions on positive
Panhellenic contact. Posts on social media should focus on chapter values, leadership, philanthropy and
sisterhood. Members of sororities are not required to privatize or remove their accounts.
E. Any conversations through social media that pressure a potential new member, imply she would receive a bid (bid promising), or encourage her not to keep an open mind through the recruitment process are not allowed.

The sororities hold ALL the power during recruitment and make all the membership selection decisions, and any dirty rushing is done on the part of the sorority. There is a full set of rules for sororities on dirty rushing, not any for pnm's. Dirty rushing does not go both ways.

If it was true that sororites hold "ALL the power during recruitment and make all the membership selection decisions” why do we tell pnm’s that it is a mutual selection process? If you’ve ever had your rush crush go to another house, you would know that sororities don’t always make the decisions!

If a sorority decides to drop a pnm then that's it, their decision rules, doesn't matter how high a pnm ranks them. Pnm's don't drop sororities, they only rank them. A pnm's ranks only matter if more sororities would invite her back than her schedule has room for; in that case the pnm's ranks would come into play and her low ranked house or houses would drop off her schedule.

The very definition of dirty rushing is what SORORITIES must not do.

A PNM can say to a sorority "I am ranking you number one and want a bid from you" and even if it's a total lie that is not dirty rushing. She can reach out to every individual chapter member before rush to try to promote herself and gain an advantage, but that's not dirty rushing either. She can promise a huge donation to the chapter or offer to fly all the members to a beach weekend in the Bahamas if they'll give her a bid, still not dirty rushing. None of that breaks any rules for PNM's. All that is creepy af and get her dropped from chapters and get talked to from a Rho Gam but not pulled from recruitment or fined or put on campus social suspension.

But a sorority can't say "We are ranking you high and want to give you a bid" even if it's the total truth because that IS dirty rushing. A sorority can't promise any gifts or special favors to a PNM, that's dirty rushing. A sorority can't get a PNM alone to promote their chapter, or have several members talking to her at once to pressure her, that's dirty rushing. Any sorority getting caught will pay fines or worse.

All the responsibility and blame for dirty rushing is on the sororities. PNM's are the VIP's and even have their own Bill of Rights. But there is no dirty rushing on the part of PNM's, including being on the receiving end of dirty rushing from sororities or being complicit in being bid promised.
PNM's rules are to go to all events, be respectful to everyone, refrain from substances, and not share datebook 1 videos.

I actually know a girl that was “released” from recruitment after contact with actives during the no contact period. The house was also sanctioned.

We are not in the no contact period right now so social media following and contact is allowed.

There is a Code of Ethics for pnm's, but they don't include anything about dirty rushing because that's totally in the control of the sororities. If you can provide any dirty rushing rules for pnm's that hold them accountable then please provide them.

Per panhellenic recruitment rules "Dirty Rushing includes activities or tactics used by a member of an organization to recruit or influence PNMs outside of the official recruitment process."

Read the panhellenic recruitment rules for sororities, they aren't a secret.

Pnm's are free to use social media to follow, reach out, or respond to any sororities or members.
