thought for the day

I am broken. Soooo broken. I'm a slave to my own mind and am finally going to try to find someone who can help me better understand what's going on there. I struggle with my imperfections daily.
But I have brought my brokenness to the Lord, and he has called me new. God does NOT want me wallowing in my imperfections, hurting myself with my own words, or giving up on myself when he has put so much work into my life.
You're broken, too, whether or not you wallow. But you also have an opportunity to go to God, completely broken, because of his sacrifice in his son Jesus. Does that mean your life will suddenly come together and you'll just be carefree? Not likely. You still have to put in work. But knowing and trusting in Jesus is a decision that can give you peace in know that (1) This place is temporary, but is where God has is now, so we should do and be our best here; (2) There is an infinite God who knows our every thoughts and actions but loves us the same and always will; (3) He has given us knowledge through the Bible to better know him and ourselves, and while it is not always clear without context and history, there are so many resources to help us understand it.
We will always be broken and imperfect people. Pain will always be a factor in our lives. But lies that our lives are good without depending on God, or that we can get through without prayer, or even that the support from people who don't know God is adequate - It's these lies that lead to the ultimate lie that I am a Christian when I likely am not. Christianity is a full dependence on the One who created us, and spreading that as best we can to everyone we can, with love and understanding.
