ranks by costs

by: PNM

Can someone rank the sororities from least expensive to most expensive? I hear that the sororities with the newer houses are more expensive but I am on a budget and would like to know more specifics. Thank you.

I do not believe that? I think KD is the most expensive.

are the sororities with the newer, bigger houses. the 3 most recent houses are ddd, sigma kappa, and dz. those will be the most expensive.

usually, smaller houses (like adpi mentioned above) are cheaper and houses that have been around/not redone in a while.

although alums prob contributed, the chapter itself prob has a building fund that members have been paying into as well. I think i read on a different post that they have been paying into theirs for a long time.

I feel like an 100% alum contribution is really stretching the truth.

^ Like the person said above, the chapters with newer and more expensive houses tend to be the most expensive.

Right now that is DDD and DZ.
SK has been saving for their house for a long, long time so it is paid for and the dues will not be increasing!

ADPi is older so it is on the cheaper side. Theta and Pi Phi are off row (so is Kappa but they just got an expansion so they're mid rangeish) so they are cheaper too.

Gphi does not have a house so their dues are on the cheaper side RIGHT NOW. Keep in mind that they will be building a new house very soon, and they have not been saving so the dues will skyrocket, probably close to DZ's level since that is why their dues are so high (they colonized and build a house ~10 years ago).

Panhellenic posted the ranges on the website.

All the ranges INCLUDE meal plans:
Range for new semester expenses (so first semester in a chapter): $2000-$4800
Range for OUT OF HOUSE active expenses (so every other semester besides your first): $1300-$2700
Range for IN HOUSE active expenses (so every other semester besides the first if you live in house): $2800-$4450

I keep seeing that ADPi dues are reasonable due partly to their house. But at some point, I thought I read that GPhiB has to meet at the Reitz Union since they have no house, and that they said that other houses like ADPi have to meet there too because ADPi's house isn't big enough. Isn't ADPi going to build a bigger house soon so they can have enough room to meet & won't that make their dues go up? When will ADPi get their new house? I like that ADPi dues are currently reasonable. Do any other houses need to be replaced?

a lot of houses are beginning to look elsewhere to conduct chapter meetings. the campus chapter total is just so high that it is so hard to fit everyone into one area for something like formal chapter, initiation, etc. its not uncommon. my house is a reasonable size (not the smallest, not the biggest) and we have had to find other locations for ritual events and stuff. at some point every house is going to have to figure something out.

Just a tiny point, re: last statement "every house is going to have to figure something out" kinda makes it sound like all the houses are too small and that no one has yet addressed the issue of growing chapters. Simply not the case.

Keep in mind some houses are "all inclusive" and others are not. So the prices sometimes aren't comparable right away. Every chapter does it different. It's all explained during round 3 if you ask the girl rushing you.
