Advice for a PNM who was cut from a lot of houses
by: AdviceOnly left with a couple that I see are considered bottom on here. She is keeping an open mind but worried about one not having a stand alone house so she is less likely to get to live there and if they are strong enough to stay on campus the next 4 years. Personally I really feel none of this matters in another 2 weeks and if the current girls are nice and welcoming that’s where you belong. Anyone on here know if she really doesn’t want these 2 should she hold out for snap bids, cob , spring rush ? Seems like a gamble ? Better if anyone on here can give some real and frank advice without being mean about houses. Sorry just a confusing time for her and trying to help

Hi! I am disaffiliated now but did formal rush and ended up picking a bottom house. It was by far the worst decision of my life. I will not be naming the house or getting into details, but if your daughter isn’t feeling a click with any of the houses and is disappointed, I would highly recommend that you encourage her to listen to her gut and perhaps do spring COB. She can make friends with girls over the fall semester and find her home that way. Waiting one semester will not be the end of the world for her, and may even work out better for her in the long term. It is obvious that all sororities put up a polished version of their houses, but some are much worse than others and do not have the sisterhood that they claim to have. Formal rush is great for practicing so many skills, and has taught me so many valuable lessons in the long run, but it is a lot easier to be fooled during this season. Be careful and stay safe!

The two sororities that moved likely does not contribute to how many girls they can take, only how many can live in the house in the future.
Girls who have friends in other chapters are most likely from the same hometown/highschool, and chapters will take people that initiated members know but that does not mean someone’s chances are hurt b/c they aren’t from that same town or school.
There will be large cuts for tomorrow as preference round means the PNM is likely on their bid list

Hi! I went through formal recruitment and got back houses I couldn’t see myself in toward the end of the week. While it was hard, I ended up dropping and rushed in the spring. I joined a chapter and it has been my favorite part of college with the most amazing girls and it isn’t something I would ever change
I would recommend going back to those houses today and possibly tomorrow and if she still really just can’t see herself in those chapters, withdraw. There are houses that offer snap bids and cobs, and there are also houses that do spring recruitment. None of those things denote a chapter and everything happens for a reason, she will end up where she belongs💓

Go to prefs and see how she feels afterwards- if she isn’t feeling good about either house she can drop. There’s a strong page could get a COB bid- that’s what happened to me and I’m in a chapter I love. I ended up with a pref invitation to only the bottom house and it didn’t feel like the place for me. But within 2 weeks several houses reached out to me and I was offered a bid. I do think she should at the strength and feel of the chapter instead of where the house is. Good luck to her!!

that house wasn’t lost is was forced on to chi o. No one wanted to live there. All chapters will defo be here for four years pi phis numbers are lower but there still a decent sized chapter

Member of pi phi here, I can back this claim up fully. Will disaffiliate after witnessing everything that’s happened recently and the way formal rush has played out.

Pi Phi was forced off because they couldn’t fill the house so Chi O took that spot to be in Greek village- their old house was great but just not close by. Their nationals wanted to chance to be in Greek village while they plan to build the big McMansion. Plus it’s completely renovated and looks cute now. Pi Phi could get good numbers over the next few years and be fine- but they are the only chapter to worry about losing their affiliation at State.

Thank you so much and it’s so difficult trying to make her not feel so down and rejected. I did hear there were a lot of cuts today and I imagine it will be worse tomorrow. Hearing over 700 girls are rushing. 2 of the sororities are now in a different location also. I’m not sure how that changes things if at all. It seems so many of these girls already have friends in the houses and went to the same high schools together.
I really appreciate the honest and real feedback as I didn’t know where else to ask after googling.
