rushing as a sophomore

I spent my first year at a local community college and then went to UMKC in the spring semester where I planned to rush LXA as I had met most the guys the previous semester, but they had an incident at a party and lost their charter before spring rush started and only one other fraternity was holding a rush so I decided against joining a fraternity at that time. I decided to transfer to mizzou so I can get involved in a much more active campus, and obviously plan to rush and go through formal recruitment. I was very active in high school I played varsity in two sports, was an executive member in our student government, took AP classes, and held a 3.2 in high school. My freshmen year I have kept my GPA around a 3.4. A person I used to work with that is actually a rush chair for a fraternity at mizzou told me it would be difficult for me to get a bid as most fraternities won't even consider sophomores. I just don't want to go through a recruitment process if no one is going to give me a chance
