Understanding rankings as a PNM

There are two different categories of “top house”- one is a more superficial idea of top and one is a more well rounded idea of top.
If you want a house that is top based on grades, sisterhood, involvement and overall just a well rounded house it’s gonna be
-Pi Phi
- Chi O
-Adpi
- Theta
If you care solely about the social aspect: instagram, boys etc. your tops are gonna be
-Tri Delt
-Gphi
-DG
-Aphi
That’s not to say there’s not overlap!! I’d say Pi Phi, Adpi, and Chi O are all still very social and have a bit of both going on. Really the key to rush is establishing what you want out of a sorority and staying true to it!

This is inherently not true. Top houses offer just about everything. The lower tier social houses may have pretty girls, but that's it. I don't know about you, but I never wanted to spend my time fighting for time in front of the mirror and dodging cameras so that superficial girls can post pics that imply they have an active social life when the reality is if they actually had one they wouldn't have that much time to take photos.

The top houses make their choices based on facts: ACT scores, grades, honors, talents, involvement, personality -- not on some fake instagram profile that just about anyone can see through. We encourage PNMs to clean up their insta so that no one could draw any conclusions from it. Better yet, take it down. On the other hand, the social houses are impressed by how many red cups can be found in your posts. LOSERS!

If you look back at the last 5+ years (probably even further) of the forum on this site, easily over 75% of all the sorority posts are either entirely or partly about these two groups (the "social" houses and the "rounded" houses) putting each other down and battling for Greek supremacy. It's so tiresome and pathetic. Do you think your anonymous opinion really changes the needle on anything? Seriously - who freaking cares. To RealQ: this is the absolute worst source of information on Mizzou Greek life. It's all catty infighting and propaganda. Go through Fall rush with an open mind and find your place, wherever that may be. Tune out the noise and don't overthink it. Where you end up does not define the rest of your life, as many here would have you think.

Thanks. I still want to rush, I just don’t want to get caught up in crazy drama like some girls I know from high school. I will base my preferences on feeling comfortable and authenticity in the houses I go to.

I guess that’s what I’m trying to figure out as an incoming freshman who plans to rush…what would I really be getting into/paying for? I don’t have a highly ‘curated’ Instagram and I’m more about making authentic connections and being involved on campus. Finding a smaller/tighter community within such a big school. I hear girls in my school talking about ‘top vs bottom’ and wanting to curate the perfect image to get the house(s) they want. Based on…instagram pages? Reputations they’ve heard through the grapevine?? For me, all 14 houses are starting on an even level. How do I figure out where I want to go to get what I’m looking for?
