Low gpa but good looks and personality

by: HELP ME

Is a 2.8 gpa too low to rush a sorority? I have a GREAT personality and have volunteered about 40 hours during high school. I also think I am good looking and my family has a good amount of money so help me

GPA cuts are decided before you come to campus. Sororities review all pnm info during the summer; transcripts, resume, videos, social media, recs and personal connections. If your GPA makes it past that first cut and you get invited to Philanthropy round, then those chapters are where you will be rushing and you can show them your personality and good looks. Your family's money won't matter one bit. Your ranks of the sororities won't matter either, you won't have much choice so be open minded. 2.8 is a tough sell but go ahead and try because you never know. Good luck.

It is going to be tough. There are some houses that will give you a chance, but given the tone of your post, it sounds like you are expecting a bid from one of the "top" houses.

An option might be to really concentrate on academics (which is why you are at Mizzou), and go through as a sophomore, especially if you get to be friends with girls in some of the houses.

You can go through rush. Someone will take you, just not a good house. It's pretty easy to get good grades in high school. College is harder. So you might want to work on your study skills instead of getting involved in sorority life.

If you can't get more than a 2.8 in high school, you likely aren't going to do well in college. The better houses won't want someone who will bring down their house GPA. There are some houses that don't care about grades, but they have terrible retention and sisterhood issues. Maybe Greek life isn't for you.

Most 18-year-old women are good looking and most have good personalities. Forty hours of volunteer work is nothing and family money doesn't matter. Maybe consider rushing as a soph, because you won't have a chance to get into a good house as a freshman.

It has been a long time since sororities chose people on looks and money alone.

Too bad you're not a guy. Frats here have no requirements other than the check not bouncing.
