alpha phi at mizzou
by: transferHey so I'm in alpha phi and thinking about transferring to mizzou. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about them? I've seen a bunch of girls on insta and they all have been really pretty but then I came onto this website and it seems like people have a lot of bad things to say about them so I was wondering if someone could fill me in?

For being one of the oldest sororities on campus. For being a HUGE national sorority. Obviously, something is going on. They need to find their own identity. 20 years ago they wanted to be Zeta. For the past 15 years they wanted to be Tri Delt. The past 10 years they want to be Gphi. Every single one of those houses stepped up their game and made strict cut offs. Yes, Tri Delt slipped there, and Gphi knew they could grab those top girls. Tri Delt is back, Gphi has established themselves. Fact-APhi cut some AMAZING girls this year because they didn't think they 'looked' the image they were looking for. HUGE mistake. AXO, Zeta, Kappa and DG got those girls that have the looks AND grades. One can not recruit only on looks. 9.5 times out of 10 aphi will lose those 'pretty' girls to tri delt and gphi. The top girls they have in their house are there because they followed their friends. Smart girls, yes. Independent girls, no. Still holding out hope for this house-but they must find their own image. When alum choose cut this house early on-it's time to reevaluate. Rumor has it, and it makes sense, nationals has invested in the mizzou chapter trying to recruit top girls. But until they set some cut offs, it's unfortunately not going to change. It's said over and over again, this chapter has so much potential. Lots of hope surrounding the new exec board-hopefully they will reach further than recruiting only the pretty girls-and they girls that they know from high school.

This is something their chapters do nationally, APhi does not have strict grade cuts anywhere (and are top at most schools despite this) and they probably don't care to change that because good GPA does not = sisterhood and does not = a great personality. Thinking a girl isn't valuable because she has a 3.5 GPA instead of a 3.7 is just as shallow as recruiting based on looks. What other people don't understand is yes, APhi girls are pretty, but they also have magnetic personalities that got them their bids. Personality/connection SHOULD be the first criteria during recruitment. Anyone can see when they spend time around APhi that those girls are extremely likeminded and really enjoy each other's company. If APhi employed stricter grade cuts they'd end up with some girls whose personalities don't mesh and cut a lot of girls whose personalities do. Mizzou's GR community (mainly) is so obsessed with GPA but that's not the case at most schools, even schools with stronger Greek communities than ours.
