you only could get fined if you skip something mandatory and important that you didn't send in an excuse for (which you can always do), I've never gotten fined and neither have any of my friends it's really not a big thing.

That's not true as far as I know! I've never heard anyone say that and I've been excused from more than 2 things

Tridelt. I hear some houses are reward only houses with points earned instead of fines. Gphi is that way. I'm not sure what others.

Why in the world would you join a sorority if you didn't want to participate in its activities?

There's a difference between not wanting to be fined if something comes up vs not wanting to participate. Some people don't have the extra $ or don't want to spend the extra $ for missing an event or two. To pnms, most chapters are understanding but some (the two mentioned specifically) are known to be cutthroat about it.

You're in college now. When you join an organization, you are expected to support it. If not with your attendance, then with your $$$. Every single sorority on this campus offers excused absences for legitimate reasons. The only cause for a fine is if you don't have a legit reason for missing an event or activity. Which begs the question: why would you join an organization if you don't want to participate in its activities?

This is why no one likes exec. My sorority is a huge part of my life but it's only one part of it. I came to Mizzou to get a start on my career first and foremost. If your sorority is you entire life I pity you.
