old row fraternities

by: OOS

from the midwest, will be a freshman fall of 2016. My dad, grandpa, uncle were all members of a fraternity whose chapter at bama is on old row. Even though im a legacy and would have good letters of rec, would not being from the south remove me from consideration from any/all? if so which ones? thanks

Farmer Ted, I'm gonna help you out here since most of the posters on this site are bogus and unhelpful. The answer is YES, there's a chance. But you'll have to be smart about it. Since you're from the Midwest, you're going to have to be REALLY smart about it. Start with small talk topics like ice fishing, hockey and how much blubber it takes to keep an average sized hog warm through a 10 month winter. Then, regale them with stories of skinny dipping with your buddies in Lake Erie on New Years Eve. Finally, remember, Ole Row lions are cosmopolitan. They've been around. Big cities, all that. Hell I know one that went to Miami once. Tell them about the time your cousin bought hash from a hooker in Omaha or the time your other cousin dated that stripper from Green Bay. Those are the kinds of things that'll get you noticed.

But honestly. You have to want this because being Old Row is a burden to bear. We represent the beauty and intelligence of Alabama--and that's saying something! So come on down, but don't be hurt if you just don't make the grade. Happens a lot. Someone told me there are fraternities here that aren't old row. So there's that.

Have a blessed day y'all!
