housing
by: Incoming FreshmanOkay I know this is irrelevant to Greek life at UA but what is the best housing on campus? What is the fun/party dorm? I know that this is about Greek life but I need up to date, honest answers.

Go Tutweiler for traditional hall-style rooms and all-girl, Riverside, Lakeside, or Pres for suite style.
Avoid Somerville, Harris, Burke, Parham, and while it may seem convenient and a good environment, Ridgecrest. Ridgecrest is usually filled with a bunch of weirder people because of the Honors College rule and the RAs are a lot more strict about partying.
The benefits to Tut is that you are right beside the stadium, main campus, and the sorority houses, so house hours and classes are just a few steps away, while tailgating right before the game is made very easy. The downside (for most people) is that it can feel very, very cramped, if you live on a top floor it'll take you forever to get up and down, if I remember correctly you can't have boys there past 2am (though this might have changed), and it is of course a hall-style, so you have communal bathrooms and shared living rooms.
The benefits of a place like Riverside, Lakeside, and Pres is that you have plenty of living space and the RAs are generally pretty relaxed about partying (though not all). You also get the added benefit of having an athletic center right beside you so you don't need to take the bus to the regular rec if you want to work out. The downside is that these dorms, especially Pres 1 and 2, are super far away from campus and will make your morning walk generally much more difficult. Great for meeting girls AND guys though.
