Alumnae with a few thing to say

Came to GR to see what was being said with all the recent Bama recruitment “news”

And after reading several threads, ranks, etc, - thought I’d speak up a bit.

I really can’t imagine who comes here and says this stuff. But it’s not a reflection of how it will “feel” when you are here.

Recruitment - for what it’s worth I showed up “clueless” but had a great experience. Got my favorite house and favorites at pref (back then, I graduated three years ago, there were three at pref).

That being said, it was stressful. Heat and humidity, waiting, hunger, and doubts. A perfect rush is getting all houses as you ranked them, a full card even (if some lower ranked houses stay in play while some higher ranked drop) is great, and a tough rush is when your options are limited and quickly in the early rounds - less than a full card. And of course comparisons of cards, consoling talks, and managing the dynamics between new friends with different outcomes, adds to the tensions.

There were a lot of girls like me - confused by Greek letters, got houses mixed up, had to take notes, felt houses that we liked would change from round to round, and made some arbitrary decisions in my ranks (like I just dont like their letters).

There is tent talk about who you liked. My tent talk was way different than the ranks here. And I recall most everyone basing it on convos and events (not pre held ideas).

Being an active - Once you’re in there is no singular opinions or “ rank”. Your world revolves around your friends and social connections. You kind of know the general vibe of the house, but you’ll meet girls “way different” from that house stereotype and your feeling focus on that.

And friendships form across houses - girls share apartments, etc.

Guys date who they like - not based on letters. Same with girls. \n\n\n\n\n
