Interested freshman
by: wolverineI'm a high school senior (girl) interested in going and rushing here. I have a good gpa, but no connections. No one from my school or family has gone to Bama. What are my odds of getting a bid and does anyone have any advice?

My roomie came from out of state with a high GPA and no connections at all. She had a full party schedule for each round, including most of old row, and ended up in an old row house that everyone told her would be impossible for someone from out of state without connections. She was actually really surprised to get it and loves her house. Just make sure you get letters of recommendation for as many as you can. Start early.

Go to each sorority's national site and read about recs. One size does not fit all. 93% get a bid but the sororities do the choosing. Don't set your sites ahead of time, you will land where you're meant to. Whomever that out of state non-connected girl is, she obviously got it. She not only had the resume, she had appropriate SM, great looks and style, and her conversations blew everyone away. She was the type for what those houses wanted. You can't change who your are so embrace yourself and be open to the houses that WANT you.
