What is the truth about KD?
by: PNMThey look nice on insta but reading stuff on here, they sound awful. An alum in my hometown says they are the most exclusive house at Bama. Is that the real reason no one likes them?

Not well liked on campus. Snobby for no reason. Lots of filler girls. Feels very 1980s mean girl.

lol KD’s problem has been talked abt over and over again on this site. they’re a house that’s stuck in the past and likes to recruit the more laidback partiers that are “wellbred” in that they’re from the right families in Mobile n Mt Brook. problem is that they’re losing their edge and these kinds of girls only fill about a third of their pledge class (they lose the rest to Kappa n other houses). the rest are seen and treated as fillers, and the oos KDs i met are usually not apart of the in crowd at alll and feel like they’re tossed to the side for the most part. they also tend to not try to recruit the more competitive OOS pnm’s.
but really they just are a laidback house and don’t have the edge to be top tier anymore. their girls are not particularly cute trendy or friendly, but they like to have a good time and they’re again, very chill. they also have a very high chapter total and tend to have few drops, so i guess the sisterhood isn’t as bad as it seems? and some frats (dke, phi delt) love em

KD is a weird house. They have some really pretty girls and they have some wtf girls. Very random assortment.

KD is a solid house here. Not necessarily the hottest girls but definitely fun girls. If you are a legacy, they def take you which is cool but you probably won’t be included in the in crowd from mb or mobile. That’s really a mb and mobile problem though and not a KD one. Those Bama cities are snobby, what can I say?

It’s not a KD prob, it’s a mountain brook/mobile prob. My friends at Georgia, w&L, etc say the same thing about those hometowns.

KD is top. There are so many girls who hate them from lower tier sororities and I get it I did to at first. They know who they want and if your not one then you will be cut. They are a huge in state sorority who recruit heavy Mountain Brook, Mobile And Montgomery girls. They get top girls from Charlotte , Virginia usually legacy’s who’s moms where KDs here.
They are exclusive and known for money, laid back and DKE KA love them.
They get bashed because some of them are snobby. I’m friends with a great KD, and my views changed. I was intimidated by them but she introduced me to some very nice ones.
Them and Kappa are very similar.

Kappa and KD are very similar- KD is much stronger in state - Kappa is bottom tier at Auburn but they are both laid back and have a good time- both are great sororities

I think KD still thinks it’s top because it considers itself exclusive and really selective. Which is true they are. So in that way it is still top because it’s not easy to get a bid. But it’s also not as desired as other houses for pnms and their overall attitude can put people off. So idk

It’s highly selective but then they over cut so randomly it gets really easy at the end for some people when they need fillers

Went all the way to the end and dropped them. Knew I’d be miserable there bc not into being rude and pretentious. There are exceptions, but That’s the vibe. The girls are either from old money or new money trying to act like old money or literally, very little money. The last is the saddest thing bc some parents sacrifice all to keep up appearances. They also don’t do anything on campus. If you like all that, you’ll be happy. If not, you have 16 other choices.

In my oos hometown, there are several Bama KD alums. Most of them are very nice but there is one that is awful. Because of her, my mom had said just please don’t go KD. I feel like that says it all and turned out to be true. Most of them are nice but there are a few that bring the whole house down. Unfortunately, in any house, it’s the few that stand out.

The main problem with KD is that their recruitment tactics are out of date and they don’t consider the repercussions of how they rush. Most houses during rush put on a show and try to give off the best appearance for all girls going through rush. So even if a PNM never had a chance to be in that house, they leave thinking, “the XYZ’s were so nice” and helps promote the house’s reputation. KD is much less concerned with this and puts the majority of their recruiting tactics into a number of girls that they know they want.
So, if there’s a “top” OOS pnm that is being rushed by most houses but isn’t what KD is looking for, that girl will not get the same attention as she is in other houses, and comes out with the impression that KD’s think they are too good for everyone else. If they broke from their mold and worked on recruiting more girls that they don’t just know personally they would be so much stronger!

This is so true. KD just doesn’t hide who they care about rushing vs girls they aren’t interested in as well as other houses.
They get their share of top girls just like every other house, but the way they treat some girls they aren’t rushing leaves a bad taste in their mouth. And if you go in reading that all KD’s are stuck up and mean on this site and have a bad experience w/ them during rush it’s hard to not view them as living up to their stereotype.
