what makes axo and pm top?
by: SeriouslyI don’t understand why they are considered better than everyone else. What is the appeal? Honestly, most of the sorority instagrams look the same here. I know they don’t pull from most exclusive schools in bham, mobile, Huntsville, etc... The girls in Kappa and Zeta are definitely prettier and Xo, DDD and Agd are just as smart and involved on campus. Soooo.... why are they the best? Tell me what I’m missing

Phi Mu is undoubtably top. They take beautiful, smart, well rounded girls from all over, not just Alabama like KD and AGD. They have a high retention rate, they’re always a desired house during rush. Not to mention their physical house is absolutely gorgeous. AXO takes similar girls, however, they aren’t as talked about on campus. Always the smartest. I don’t look at them as much as I look at phi mu as an unquestionable top.

The only reason you think they are top is because they are on here self-ranking enough that they have convinced you of it. The alumnae of those two houses patrol this site and pay to have posts deleted like crazy. Once you get on campus you’ll see. Every year every Old Row houses lose their top prospects to other Old Row houses. AXO and PM do not get all girls they want - they have to fight just as hard as everyone else for them. If you want to party AT ALL then AXO is NOT the house for you. If you want a low drama sisterhood where substance matters more than style, then Phi Mu is NOT the house for you.
All other Old Row houses are just as good. There really is only one tier for Old Row and they’re all in the same way. Difference is girls from one area think one or two houses are the elite ones and girls from another area thinks another house or two are top.
If you are lucky enough to get a bid from any Old Row sorority you are extremely lucky, smart, well-connected and have a stellar resume. And that’s not to say Old Row will be the right fit for you. There are plenty of girls that don’t like any of those houses during rush, and that’s completely fine. Pledge wherever you feel comfortable. Just don’t come back on here slamming Old Row because it wasn’t the right fit for you.

I don’t agree at all that PM and AXO have risen “slightly above” the other OR houses. That is not the mood on campus at all. Good try though.

This is such an over-the-top exaggeration. From year to year some old row houses rise slightly above other old row houses for many different reasons. Right now PM and AXO are those houses. That’s it. You should still find the place that you feel most comfortable that WANTS YOU after you go through rush. Stop making such sweeping generalizations. Every single house comes on Greek rank and self ranks/comments etc. What house are you in, after all?
