how does having 2 for pref work?

by: Don’t know

How does going to just 2 houses for pref affect my chances to get in what I’d like?? Are the cuts bigger along the way? They say this helps but I don’t get it.

i think what they meant is that having 2 houses for pref guarantees a bid, not necessarily to your first choice, but it guarantees a bid nonetheless.

You’ve always been guaranteed a bid if you maximize your options and attend all the prefs you are invited to

The issue was three choices. I went to three houses for pref. It was a positive in the way that three houses liked me enough to put me on their bid list. I liked having choices and they were all good choices. My issue was I was feeling two of the houses way more than the third house ( maybe because the one kept trying to make me cry at pref.?). I was so exhausted by the end of the week and we had loooong days and nights due to rain delays and computer glitches, I just wanted to vote and be done. Having only two houses will keep the day shorter and will give the PNM’s a chance to really weigh those 2 choices. If you get your second choice, you won’t be too dissatisfied. Some girls used to get their third choice and felt closed off to that house that wanted them.

Yes, exactly. Panhellenic is nationally going to 2 prefs and most schools have done that for awhile now. A very low percentage of PNM's were getting their third choice and those who did had a higher drop rate or at least were very disappointed and disconnected as stated above. Choosing between two houses prepares one better mentally for the chance of not getting the first choice and allows the PNM to move on and really embrace the house where she got a bid.
