i only had recs for 5 houses, one rec for each, when i rushed. and i didn't have any for any other houses. i'm from the north east and 1. finding recs is REALLY hard if you don't have family who was greek and/or you're not from an area where greek life is very popular and 2. a lot of alumni groups, that are suggested for finding recs if you don't know anyone immediate, do not respond to your emails.

and it still baffles me how panhellenic doesn't reiterate how important recs are. recs show that you're not only serious about this process but they're also required for a lot of houses for them to offer a bid. it's insane that panhellenic doesnt explain this. idk

I rushed as a sophomore so I knew the drill. I started getting my packets together in January and started asking in February after I didn’t match for COB. I did get at least one for all the houses but one ( the writer said she would do it and then went on vacation and forgot. She apologized and asked if she could send it in but it was already second day of second round and that house dropped me). It was MONTHS of effort to get those 20 recs in!

If you you do not know anyone in a certain sorority, look up nearest alumnae group and contact an officer and ask if you can meet an alumna for the porpose of her to write you a rec to Bama. While many schools do not require recs, most alumnae groups already know Bama does requires them and will help you.

not all alumnae groups are willing to help and thats the harsh reality that MANY pnms face. and at that point you can just go into rush without a rec for xyz house or continue to hound said alumnae group and risk getting a "bad rec."

Y'all are making it out harder than it really is. Literally Alabama alumni groups will write them even if out of state. It's not that hard lmao
