serious question from an alum

by: Old Lady Here

Hey ladies,

I’m an Alabama alum (‘15), and I was in an old row sorority while I was there. I wasn’t really involved with recruitment outside of the whole-chapter parts, so I honestly don’t know much about what goes on beind the scenes with regards to rec letters, so I had a quick question for y’all (I already reached out to my sorority’s recruitment chair about this last year, but her answer was generic and vague).
I am now a high school teacher in Tennessee, and several of my students are going to Alabama and going through recruitment. They’ve asked me if I would be willing to write them a review letter, and I absolutely would, but don’t know if that would be more harm than good considering I know them from an academic, rather than a social, perspective.
I thank y’all in advance for your help. I was actually googling advice about this/trying to find out if this is a normal occurance when I stumbled on this page. Any advice y’all could give would be great!
Roll tide always!

You're perfect to write a Rec for them. Grades are important. Not just that though, but I've read Rec Letters from teachers that not only have an opinion on academics, but how involved they are in school, and that sort of thing.

Your Recs are fine.
