how important is involvement over connections
by: Hmm
Long story short. My dad went to prestigious milliary college and is a high ranking officer in the milliary. He is also kind of an jerk and made fun of my mom my whole life for going to Alabama and still being invovled in her sorority. I went to 3 different high schools, have excellent grades but don't really have much besides being invovled in 1 activety my jr and this year and a low ranking SGA position this year. I never even considered going here or joining a sorority until this year after my parents separated and I came down with my Mom for homecoming for the first time. Obviously I totally fell in love with the whole thing. The thing is my Mom was very invovled here and many of my " Aunts" were Bama sorority women. As of right now I have recs for all houses and more than half are from Bama chapters. Being an only child and moving every few years, I've learned to talk easily and make friends quick.
I am open to any house, as I don't know any actives or what they are like.
Do I have a decent shot with little to no activities?

1. You didn't give any details besides military kid and SGA, which fits tons of girls. Don't post any more personal details.
2. From the way you worded it I am willing to bet you are old row legacy and most of your Aunties are too. Not too many new row alums are still locally involved by the time they have 18 year olds. Also I would recommend you take their advice on outfits and such. Invovled alums are your best resource.
3. If the above is true be careful and make up your own mind. Old row for oos, oor region and knowing no actives might be a bad fit. If you like ANY house you get an invite, esp nr, tell them!!!
4. You said your mom was super invovled while she was here which could be good or bad. You never know who the alum advisers knew.
5. Welcome to Bama and forget about this site. Or at least wait until mid summer.

Something like 93% of girls find a home during recruitment. Of the % that doesn't, the majority are people who drop for various reasons. VERY few people just don't get a bid anywhere.
If you aren't stuck on a tier or a house, have good grades and don't have three heads, you will find a home.
Good luck.
