best likelihood of getting a bid when you're not a freshman is the fall of your sophomore year, after that it's pretty much a no go...

There’s plenty of other schools where it is completely normal not to rush till junior or senior year. If Alabama still wants to have the “best Panhellenic system” in the country they need to start adapting to this idea.

At some schools there are houses who will take a junior, and maybe even a senior, but that doesn't make it 'completely normal.' Freshmen are far more desired by chapters everywhere and by all nationals as a matter of policy. Just because chapters will take them doesn't make it the norm.
