is being a gdi bad

No one will look down on you for not being in a sorority, they just might have a hard time understanding why you didn't rush. So many girls can't imagine college without being Greek so they just won't get it, but they won't think less of you.
You're not a social outcast. More women on our campus are GDI than Greek. You can meet frat guys and date them if you want. Don't stress out too much.

As long as you're pretty or at least look the part (party clothes + makeup) then they'll let you through the door, so dw about that. i rushed as a sophomore but i got in just fine my freshman year

If you're a part of Greek life you can't honestly say that other Greeks don't look down on GDIs. I'm not saying I support that, I'm just saying it happens. I mean there are Greeks that look down on other Greeks, so don't think for a second GDIs aren't spared.
But again, it depends on the person. Some people are going to be very nice about it, others are going to ask you what house you're in before they even know your name and if you say you're not in a house they're going to turn around and leave.
Also, most frat parties are open to everyone. The swaps on Thursdays are exclusive until 11pm and all other frat parties on the weekends are stuff are open to everyone... The people at the gates are security guards not active members so you're not going to be turned away for anything unless you're like a high school student.

A friend/co-worker of my older sister went here about 10 years ago - she was GDI/OOS, and a sorority member she was working on a group project straight-up told her that she couldn't be seen talking to her outside of class because she was a GDI.
Not saying that's typical, but yeah, there is the occasional entitled assh0le who'll judge you.
