i haven't been on this site in a few days so i just went back a few pages to see what everyone's been talking about... so why is everyone saying zta's pledge class this year was killer and people bumped them up in the ranks significantly. like I'm not trying to hate, I'm just curious. because just because a pc has lots of pretty girls doesnt mean anything, or at least in my opinion.
so is it just zta self rankers or what... again, not trying to hate. just looking for other unbiased opinions

I think it's just because the only real "ranking" you can make this soon after bid day is one based on how the girls look on the lawn. So houses that got really pretty girls like ZTA/APhi/PBP/DDD/even GPB are getting a huge boost but we won't know how they really compare to everyone else until the semester is over.

I'm not saying whether or not it's shallow. Of course it is. Every house has exceptionally pretty girls. I don't think that should be how we rank them.
HOWEVER, right now, we have NO IDEA what's going to happen with these PCs. We don't know who is going to have a ton of girls drop, who is going to have girls involved in scandals/gossip, who is going to have girls that become campus leaders... It's too early for that. We don't have a grade report, we don't know who's going to do spring COB, etc.
So, for right now, the only possible way you could make a ranking is based on appearances. Like I said it's NOT something I agree with but it DOES explain why everyone is suddenly saying ZTA is an upper middle house on this campus.

Zeta rushed very differently this year. They dropped every single grade risk and rushed more girls in state and involved. Although their new girls are beautiful, they also are great all around. I also heard they got almost every top African American girl that rushed. Huge props to them.

Mostly true but there are exceptions. Maybe their grade risk level was higher this year but I saw bid day pictures of a few girls my chapter dropped for having too low of grades. However, props to zeta for trying to change.

it doesn't matter how zeta rushed. cool, they dropped all girls below a 3.2... but in the grand scheme of things, a 3.2 unweighted high school GPA is still significantly low. zeta was also caught in that huge dirty rushing scandal. so i mean, sure they may be doing things differently but we also need to keep in mind that some of the things they are doing aren't honest.
zeta hasn't moved up in my opinion. all those posts about them being so great with like 30 up votes are from them. and it's fine to self rank. it's fine to love your house. and it's fine to want to share that. but at the end of the day, houses don't move up/down that significantly in the matter of just a few months... especially zeta. because we also need to keep in mind they have some of the worst grades on campus, they're not overly involved, they have a bad reputation, and a catty sisterhood.
^^^ all MY opinion. if you don't like it then that's fine. but that's how everyone who isn't a zeta sees things.

Okay, OR. Is it hard to give credit when credit is deserved? Just because your sorority isn't receiving all the rush hype doesn't mean you can put down others.

Zta did well, but one good class does not jump you to top tier. Leave the OR/NR thing out of this. Some houses did well, some house stayed the same, and some houses were below their norm. Way to soon to tell how it will impact "rankings" (which are stupid anyway)

PM got a bunch of beautiful girls some of which were top top too PNMs. And just from what I've been seeing Theta and DZ got a lot of pretty girls too...
Truth is, every house has pretty girls. Yes some more than others but still. To say one house is better than another just based on appearances is shallow.
