houses

hypothetically speaking of course, what would happen if a sorority somehow got their charter pulled? like what would happen to their house? i know some of the not NPC houses are too small to finance a mansion so what would happen?

Not gonna happen. Our chapters are so big our dues fund too much of each chapters national budgets. Our houses are "too big to fail."

If a house did something bad they'd just get fines, probation and a big slap on the wrist.

It wouldn't be suddenly without warning if it did happen. Pulling a charter is a very last resort on the part of any national office. There would have to be a pattern of bad behavior and defiance of the rules preceded by fines, probations, etc. Houses here are very well run and handle member issues swiftly and appropriately; plus, alumnae are very involved in every house and would never let anything close to that happen here.

Well what about all the other "big" chapters (both fraternity and sorority) across the nation that have been pulled due to isolated incidents like a hazing situation or a death?

The incident at UConn led to an investigation of the chapter that led to other issues they hadn't known about before. A sorority would never close a chapter just because a member died in a tragic non-sorority related accident. I'm not saying that couldn't happen here but our nationals have such a tight hold on us that I think it's very unlikely.

Just want to clarify-- I know technically DG was also "hosting" the event but by non sorority related I meant that it wasn't something forced like hazing
