Was shocked that alpha pi kept me all the way to sisterhood. I don't look like what you would expect a typical alpha pi to look like & i was always slightly intimidated by their girls lol. I know I wouldn't have fit in had I received a bid so it all worked out for the best!!

The thing with APhi is that they do a pretty good job of making (especially OOS) PNMs think that they are a really selective house when that's not really the case. Besides zeta I'm almost positive the two houses they cross rush the most with are gphi and dz, the girls who are hot but major grade risks just usually end up choosing APhi over gphi or dz. Aphis GPA is pretty definitive proof that they have to make sacrifices to maintain the "look" that they want, because zeta goes for the same look and their GPA is over .2 higher

Also, oos girls wanna pledge a sorority that will impress their peers at home, and a lot of the old row houses just wouldn't look as impressive as alpha phi to outsiders who only follow one or 2 girls in Greek life here. Sure, a house like kappa or alpha chi is more impressive to the in state crowd, but oos don't care, they'd rather impress their friends from home.

Agree. There was a long comment about Zeta on a different thread that really explained everything well.

You're absolutely right - APhi seems way more selective during recruitment then they actually are. Especially to OOS PNMs from the west, south florida, north, etc because APhi's look combined with the outgoing personality is 100% what makes you "top tier" in their hometowns. Who wouldn't want to pledge the sorority known for being ~~so hot they broke the internet lolol~~ if that's something you see as indicative of top tier status?
