When is Panhellenic voting on them?

As soon as Panhellenic announces that Alabama is open for expansion, interested sororities apply, they are invited to present, they all make their presentations...in other words, not soon. If Alabama opens up to a new sorority it won't be quiet.

this has been said time and time again: we don't want a new sorority on campus, we want sdt to start participating in formal rush. i literally don't know what else to say because literally so many people just want sdt to be held to the same standards as all the other npc sororities here. it's not fair that they get all the perks of being a part of the Panhellenic council here yet don't have to do nearly as much work as all the other houses. i get it, sdt likes how they operate, but if they're going to sit back and relax then they can do so off campus and give their house to another sorority or fraternity more deserving. sdt has a strong history here with a lot of involved alums, so honestly if sdt really wanted to participate in formal rush, they could easily find a way. i know they have like 60 member and i know they'd need more for formal rush but if theres a will theres a way. at this point all the sororities are bursting at the seams... the first option should be to push sdt to participate in formal rush... and the final option should be to introduce a new sorority. if we have a fully capable and established npc sorority already here why should we waste money, time, and effort to try to colonize a new sorority that could very well fail.

Well, sorry. We're getting a new sorority and that's that. SDT would never succeed at formal recruitment the way they are now and y'all need to understand that.

Formal Rush should be the last straw for SDT. They should come up with a plan to participate in Formal Rush and if they really do fail then maybe that's a sign of a bigger issue and maybe they should leave campus. I know it's harsh but it really isn't fair that they have all the perks of being a NPC sorority at a school with a massive Greek life, yet they don't have to do any of the dirty work.
I'm not against colonizing a new sorority here, but I don't think we should do so until SDT shapes up or ships out. Sorry not sorry.

Looks like WE are not on the panhellenic board that opened the campus for expansion, or maybe WE were the only dissenting votes.

In either case, NPC and your campus allows SDT to live and recruit the way they do for reasons that your house and its members do not have to worry about.

So stop pulling out your hair and go study.

Please respect SDT as they respect your house by not dissing it on GR. And be glad of eventual smaller new member classes for your home if SK is accepted and colonizes.

BTW what is in it for your group if both SDT goes away like you wish and SK fails as the end of your post seems determined to promote.

Judging by the downvoting of @us's post, somebody's mightily butthurt about a sorority who's no threat to them.

I am Pro-more sororities coming to bama. I am also pro-SDT getting back into formal recruitment. I am pro-growing our panhellenic. I think it is laughable that we allow a panhellenic sorority to be mediocre like SDT.

does SDT really have the perks tho? like they still pay dues but they live in a tiny house not even on the row and they're irrelevant (not to be mean )

@real active, can you share what "dirty work" SDT does not have to do that you think they should?

Also, what's wrong with smaller chapters that don't compete with most sororities?

There is nothing wrong with smaller chapters that don't compete with most large sororities.

Both Sigma Delta Tau and Alpha Epsilon Phi are NPC sororities that do not formally recruit on some campuses. This is allowed with the permission of each individual campus where these groups are located.

NPC formed and matured by including smaller national sororities whose membership roles consist of worthy collegiate and alumnae women. These groups have remained smaller in size and scope, yet laudable women are still joining and remaining valuable members to their campus and society.

NPC will not be kicking out these two groups, or any group, simply for the sake of their smaller membership size.

No one said they need to be kicked out of the NPC...we are saying they need to keep up with OUR panhellenic community here.
Those groups are very popular and perfectly capable at other schools. they just need to get with the program here.

I'm an active Sigma Kappa at an SEC school and am really excited about Sigma Kappa coming to Alabama. This school is incredibly beautiful and there is so much pride in being a student here. By the time I graduate Sigma Kappa will probably be doing their first rush and I'm considering graduate school here so I could potentially be an advisor or something along those lines. Obviously, it will be a few years before it's decided that a house on par with the new ones can be built (although I SK will need one to attract and retain PNMs). I really hope this proves to be a successful colonization and that the Greek community is as warm and welcoming as it has been when I've visited friends during game days.

Its already voted on. They are coming. Ask your chapter's panhellenic delegate if you don't believe me.

Is there a defined date of colonization? Will it be before all the current sororities have their homes built/rebuilt? Will Sigma Kappa not have a physical house until the year 2020 or 2021?

Sometimes a sorority will have a huge youtube announcement for a big chapter and they may be making the video right now.
