return rates

by: ^^^^

Return rates for old row, who take tons of legacies, is better because these girls and their parents have expected and wanted this their whole life. The costs were known, expectations were high, and the house already chosen. When you grow up wanting something, you don't give it up once you have it. Old row girls love their houses.

New row has lower return rates because is many cases, these girls came from other states. These girls might have grown up with parents in Greek life who loved it, but there was no expectation that a particular house just had to be it. Most new row parents are not expecting the costs. The OOS cost of college added to sorority life is a lot. And unlike old row, new row girls are finding their home with no preconceived notions about any sorority on campus and are open to all of them. New row girls love their houses.

Both cut who they don't want. Both get who they do want. All the houses are strong here.

This is exactly right. The more OOS the greater the rate of transfers out also, especially after sophomore year.

since about 75% of the girls going out for rush are OOS, your return rate theory is mathematically impossible.

^^^ as noted your logic is fuzzy. Also a large majority of oos qualify for scholarships so speculation that oos tuition is "too much" along with Greek fees causes people to transfer out is a broad over generalization. Do some oos students transfer home, just as some in state students do, sure! Also a number of students, in state and oos, aren't able to make grades and have to leave. So yah, stuff happens, but you have linked this to return rates etc... In ways that make no sense.

@math major

The houses that are almost all oos have the worst chapter gpas. just the facts.

the oos who have scholarships and grades have more choices, and a large majority of those pledge selective houses.

probability is high that you will need to change majors.

No, not all the hosues with a lot of OOS have "the worst" chapter gpas. Not at all.

umm, ALL chapters have a lot of oos. the chapters who have almost all oos have the worst gpas.

so what you posted "a large majority of oos qualify for scholarships" is not true for oos going out for rush.

Theta seems to have developed a strategy of pledging smart out of state girls. As a result, Theta is near the top of the grade report. KD and KKG are towards the bottom of the grade rankings. All of these examples suggest that it isn't just the houses that are "almost all OOS" that struggle with grades. Rather, it is the houses that aren't terribly concerned about recruiting for grades that are at the bottom of the grade report.

I thought the term return rates related to what percent PNMs selected a chapter during rush higher/more often... Wanting to return to the next round.

And retention rates relates to how many members stay in the chapter from year to year.

yep that's right. so since something like 75% rushing are oos, the high return rates for old row can't be because of in state and legacies, the majority of oos people rank these high too.
