dropping

by: Curious

Looking through fb, ig pictures of seniors in their respective sororities...I can't help but notice how few members are in senior pictures together? If pledge classes have been well over 100 for years what happened to all the other girls in their PC? Do that many drop their sorority, out of school, transfer, or just aren't in the pictures?

A lot of seniors can't make it back in time from internships

They lose interest after a couple of years.

It's not uncommon to lose up to half of your original PC by the time you are a senior. Most of the girls go into another school, like leave for nursing, are student teaching, or at an internship. Several end up transferring or leaving school all together, and of course there are ones that drop for a lot of different reasons. And a fair amount of girls may still be an active member but have pulled back from sorority life and are focused on taking their hardest classes, life after college, other extracurricular activities, or serious relationships. Most every sorority is missing at least 50-100 members during rush so "pledge class pictures" from the week or bid day are always smaller than they actually are.

Greek life is an undergrad thing, after your sophomore year if you're still super into Greek life then you look immature. Greek life is really for people making friends early and underage kids who want to get drunk all of the time

No, after your sophomore year you move into the leadership positions that run the chapter.

A lot of sororities have a rule that if you can't do rush you can't come to bid day which knocks out a lot of seniors with late internships

Exactly. Plus seniors are usually pretty over it and don't want to put in the two weeks of 100 percent sorority in their last summer before senior year.

You're right, but that's a shame. I think I worked the hardest my senior year, because I knew I would never do that again.

Another reason: There are so many members that some houses allow seniors to opt out of rushing, or they're allowed to do fewer parties. If they've opted out they may not be back yet.
