chapter meetings
by: PNMWhen are chapter meetings usually held, and how mandatory are they exactly? If I'm on a sports club team that requires me to be out of town occasionally when they have chapter, is it a big deal to miss them?

Mandatory. You'll be fined if you miss more than a few (each house has a different policy on fines). I'm not sure how school athletics factors in though; you may want to ask the Greek Life office if they know if that is considered an excused absence for any houses.

The thing is if members don't attend chapter meetings (especially new members) the sorority will wish they offered your spot to someone else. It's a commitment.
When you say Sports Club... do you mean another type of club/organization competing for your time?
