fraternity time commitment
by: HeyWhat is the time commitment for a fraternity, how many times a a day/week do you go to your house?
#1 by: active
First of all newboy, going to the house is not a time commitment that is strenuous on your schedule. You go to the house because you want to go there and be with your brothers and be around with others. I am there at least once a day, whether it is meals or to study or to just hang out. Don't ever make it sound like you have to go there or you feel obligated to because you will want to be there

You will usually eat most of your meals at your house on a meal plan. You will always have weekly meetings whether you are a pledge or an active. Pledges/New Members will have required attendance and participation for things frequently that you CANNOT miss, so your first few months will be the most demanding time-wise. As an active, if you are an officer or on a committee for something you will have meetings and stuff to do for that. Certain events, like philanthropies, or mixers with sororities, are required attendance for all members. But like "active" says, you will want to be there. These are your brothers and this is your home away from home.

When SigEp's award-winning Balanced Man Program is run right, it is a more challenging experience than pledging. While brothers have the right to membership the day they join, it comes with many responsibilities. Brothers must be engaged their entire time in the chapter, not just the first semester. If brothers do not meet their expectations in each challenge, their membership is lapsed. Furthermore, the Balanced Man Program challenges brothers to provide the best experience on campus, regardless of what the rest of the campus is doing. This takes the self- confidence to not care what other fraternities are saying about you.
