Minority Rushing

by: hhhhhhhhhh

Hello! I'm a minority rushing this spring, and I hoping for mid-tier to upper mid-tier houses because I know that top houses are just not attainable. Does being a minority help or hurt my chances? Also, are there frats that are more inviting for minorities and vice versa? Thank you.

Fellow minority, most diverse frats at Cornell from mid to upper mid are pike, DX, lambda, and phi tau

Minority in 'top tier' house here. Go everywhere and don't limit yourself. Follow your heart. If you're confident, anything is possible. However, while Greek life can be a ton of fun, understand the difficulties that it can present as a minority...advice that I wish was more stressed to me.

also a minority in greeklife here. Being a minority does not help or hurt you, just be cool and fit with the house and you are gonna be fine. In general upper mid/mid frats are more inviting to minorities. As above poster mentioned, DX, Lambda, Phi Tau are very diverse by frat standards at Cornell in the upper mid to mid range if you value diversity in the frat you want to join.

Wouldn't say top houses aren't attainable whatsoever, but definitely more competitive. If you vibe there you have a shot. Being a minority has no impact on rush, so just check out all the houses you like and see where you fit in best.
