Milwaukee School of Engineering - MSOE Overview

  About Greek Life at MSOE

MSOE is a small, technical university in downtown Milwaukee focused on engineering, nursing, and business — and its Greek system reflects that specialized, tight-knit character. There are a handful of fraternities and a sorority operating on campus, making this one of the smaller Greek communities you'll find at any four-year school. That said, small doesn't mean invisible, especially if you're an engineering student.

The fraternities here are Delta Sigma Phi, Sigma Phi Delta, and Triangle. Sigma Phi Delta and Triangle are both engineering-focused fraternities nationally, which fits MSOE's identity pretty well. On the sorority side, Alpha Omega Epsilon is the one active chapter — it's also an engineering and technical sorority, so there's a clear theme running through Greek life here. The organizations tend to draw members who are serious about their majors and see the fraternity or sorority as a complement to their academic life, not just a social outlet.

MSOE doesn't have a traditional Greek Row or chapter houses the way a large state school would. The Greek community operates more through campus programming and events than through house-based social life. Recruitment tends to be lower-key compared to what you'd see at a Big Ten school — think informational meetups and get-to-know-you events rather than massive rush week productions.

Milwaukee itself is a real college city with plenty going on beyond campus, so Greek organizations here tend to focus on building professional connections, doing philanthropy work, and creating community within a demanding academic environment. Since MSOE runs on a quarter system with a heavy courseload, the chapters that thrive here are ones that balance brotherhood or sisterhood with the realities of a rigorous technical curriculum.
