Discouraged Before Round 3

I got dropped from my top house (+ the sorority my mom was in) before round 3. i was heartbroken lol. all the emotions of move in and the exhaustion of rush caught up to me and i just felt so bad about myself. i had tried so hard to go into rush with an open mind and be completely authentic but this made me feel like that method had failed me. needless to say, that sorority had QUITE a few controversial things happen this year and i’ve heard about so much that makes me SO SO GLAD i didn’t end up there!!! i love the sorority i’m in because THEY LOVE ME! don’t get down on yourself and never take anything personally during recruitment. i promise you are worth so much more than what can be assessed during a 5 minute conversation. it will all work out for you!! PS get off of greekrank it is the dumbest thing ever

Everyone gets dropped by houses they like. It is part of the process. You can only join one sorority after all. You can have some that you like but the best advice is don't get attached or so deeply invested in one or a couple. It usually just leads to tears. Have an open mind.

Unless you have actually been to the house and met the girls in advance through a friend or family member then you likely have "a favorite" sorority based on very little information. Instagram and Greek Rank should not be the sole basis of your deciding if a sorority is the right fit for you or not. That is why you go through rush after all.

Also, you have to remember that you are not picking them, they are picking you. You can only control certain things in the process, but you cannot control who will give you a bid. You can only influence it. If you happen to get a bid to your "favorite" house it is because you fit their culture. That is really it. If you don't then look honestly at what they are like and what you are like. You don't want to join a sorority that really is not you fit wise even if you have been told they are great. An likely you will not get a bid there anyway cause they know. That does not mean girls who get cut can't fit in there but the reality is they cannot take everyone.
