This is false multiple sororities categorize pnms based on atl vs non atl Georgia residents. This is not a bad thing it just helps with matching people

It's not like some sorority would go 'Gainesville, hell no, not for us' or anything. Pnm's are worried they'll get cut for where they're from. It's silly.

Nobody cares about Atlanta or not Atlanta for rushing, it's who you know or knows of you. The farther out you are from the metro Atlanta area, which is where the heavier population is, the fewer connections you are likely to have. The official metro Atlanta area is Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb, Cherokee, Forsyth and Gwinnett counties. If you are from the 'Atlanta area' but nobody knows a thing about you or the school you come from or knows anyone else from your school or wherever you're from then you might as well be from anywhere.

You proved my point. You say that if they are not from Atl area or certain Atl schools, then they have “few connections”. What you really mean is that they don’t know anyone from certain private schools around Atl.
You are thus assuming the people from the Atl areas are the best connections. Only the Atl area people feel this way. They think they are better in some way. The rest of GA and the South disagrees.
Thank you for showing us exactly how the mind of an Atl area girl works. This is exactly why GA girls not from the Atl area are prioritizing other srats. Why go into a srat where all the Atl girls think they are better?? Such a joke.

If you are talking to someone that doesn't live in GA or not from GA and you get asked where you are from it's just easier to just say Atlanta if you live north of Macon, west of Athens, east of Alabama and south of Chattanooga...... you just say Atlanta and keep it moving.
If the person is from GA and has a clue about the state you say your town name..... regardless if you are OTP or ITP.

Any area around Atl where it’s nothing but neighborhoods, businesses, etc. If you leave Atl in any direction and can finally drive 10 min with no buildings around, you’ve left. Woodstock, Buford, they are all Atlanta. These towns are outside of the loop but they are still an extension of ATl with large populations, nonstop neighborhoods, etc. Their personalities, priorities, and culture are different than the rest of Georgia. The residents do not have Southern accents, most families are not originally from GA. They live in micromansions. They have a lot of private schools to choose from and wouldn't dare go to public school. The students from these areas are the exact definition of “new” money but try to convince people they are old money. They will say the rest of GA is rural yet forget there are other large cities (Macon, Augusta, Valdosta, Savannah, etc) besides the Atlanta area ones. The rest of GA does not consider them Southern. Sorry, it’s the truth. The students from these Atl area cities will get on here and say I’m wrong. Meanwhile, the people from the entire remaining state of GA know exactly what I’m saying.
If you join a primarily Atl area lead srat, your friends will most likely be from certain Atl schools or out of state/nonsouthern state. My roommate is from Covington, and the two best friends she made in her srat are from Cali and Az. Her friend choices are girls from the Atl area who think they are still in high school (drama, hierarchy, etc) or girls from oos. She chose oos over the petty drama & popularity contests.

Honestly people, don't get worked up over a non-issue.
Sorority members don't categorize their chapters or their membership selection according to what they consider Atlanta or non-Atlanta or Georgia or Southern or whatever, this is just you poor nervous distressed pnm's and their mothers who get on here and obsess.
What sorority members are actually discussing with each other is 'hey, you are from XYZ high school/locale, do you know this pnm? what do you know/think about her?' The question that pnm's should be asking themselves is 'who do I know from my high school/neighborhood/whatever who goes here and what sororities are they in because these connections could help my rush?' And pnm's who have no connections whatsoever will still do just fine.
