GPA IN RECRUITMENT
by: california juniorI have a pretty low GPA around a 3.1 although my highschool offered zero weighted courses. Some of my friends are in top sororities but their average GPA sits at about 3.7 for those houses. Will I immediately be cut in recruitment or can people in the house override this? How big of a part is GpA really?

GPA is not really the hard cutoff. The hard cutoff is the number a chapter is given by panhellenic that they can invite back. That number is different for each chapter, and some chapters are more limited than others, so your chances depend on that. The fewer PNM's a chapter is allowed to invite back, the more selective they will be on GPA.
GPA is considered for first round, and it's a big deal at that point, but it's not an issue after that so if you make it to second round it's all about how you do rushing in person. A chapter can ask anyone back they want with a lower GPA if they really want her, so it's not all the way automatic, but you'd have to have something really special going for you NGL. Everyone has friends going through rush and will be pulling for them within their chapters, but membership selection is always a chapter decision and no one group can override the chapter.
