The university is handling everything right now, it's a very complicated situation. I don't think anyone knows at this point.

IFC is too afraid to take action.

If you think IFC handles issues like this, you are stupid. This stuff goes right past IFC to OFSL and the university.

Tells you a lot about IFC that they haven't put any sanctions on SigEp - or even distanced themselves from SigEp. To be silent is to condone.

Do you think IFC gets to arbitrarily punish fraternities for events that happened a year earlier? The University knew about the incident a year before everybody else and kicked the kid out. If they thought the Sig Ep needed punishment they would have done it then.

If you think IFC even has the power to do that, you need to learn about what IFC is.

The administration which wants to get rid of fraternities uses controversies like this as a wedge issue. They practice: "Don't Let a Crisis Go to Waste"

They'll play their next hand by putting new restrictions on all IFC because they will be able to point out that the IFC failed to self govern and did not lead on the issue. Doesn't matter what they told the IFC back when. They will throw the IFC under the bus and issue new rules that radically reshape Greek Life.

We already know it's not going to happen, but out of curiosity what would even be the point of removing SigEp's charter? The fraternity immediately kicked out the member and never tried to defend the kid's actions. IMO, kicking off a house as big and involved as theirs because of one person would do more harm than good.

Driven by the words of their founders, SigEps have been innovating to provide the best fraternity experience for more than 113 years. Today's brothers continue the tradition. They're raising the collective standard through the Balanced Man Program, re-imagining the fraternity house as a Residential Learning Center, developing freshman before they join through the Balanced Man Scholarship, serving remote regions of the world, and helping brothers defy employment trends that have plagued the early work years of the Millennial Generation.

Not surprised - just disappointed - that the school, the IFC, the chapter, and the national fraternity pretend like there's not a problem here. They're all in hiding.
