Hey PNMs! It's almost spring, which crazily enough means that it's almost time to start thinking about recruitment. I would love to answer any questions and give advice about how to best get ready and be prepared for rush! Leave comments below! :)

What do houses think about Sophomores rushing? Whats the thought process of evaluating a PNM that is already in college? What would they need to have to still be considered a “top” recruit?

I don't think that houses have any problem with sophomores rushing. It all depends on your resume, grades, and connections! If you don't have a lot of friends in the "top" houses, it may be harder to get in one of those because generally they prefer freshmen who can stay all 4 years. But if you have good involvement and a lot of connections in the houses, it shouldn't be a problem at all! Even if you don't have connections in the top houses, there is still a good chance that you could get one, or a mid-tier house for sure.

What would you consider an “impressive” resume, gpa, ect? Does how many instagram followers you have or how much money you have really matter? If yes, for how many houses?

An impressive resume usually has lots of involvement, both high school and college. Serving on committees, holding leadership positions, being involved with clubs, etc is important. A very important component is philanthropy! Houses pay a lot of attention to this, particularly the ones that do very well with their own philanthropies. Community service, fundraising, charity weeks, Soonerthon/Relay help resumes to stand out! Internships and work experience help as well. As for GPA, a "good" GPA is usually considered above a 3.5, but it really varies from house to house. Instagram followers isn't really a deciding factor but seeing as though the members will check your social media, it definitely doesn't hurt to have a high following. And money really doesn't matter for most of the houses--but Kappa and Theta are the main "money" houses.

Get to know girls in the house you're interested in and tell them that you'd really like to be a part of their sisterhood even if it's only for a couple of years. Hope they can pull for you.

Honestly juniors have a hard time rushing since they don't have as much time to be a part of the sorority. It's definitely not unheard of, but it's likely that you'd be cut by the top houses just because of your age (so don't take it personally). But I think you should go for it! If it's a sisterhood and a group of friends that you're looking for, there's a good chance you could join one of the lower-tiered sororities, which all have sweet girls and great sisterhood.

COB and Spring Rush are a good opportunity for Juniors. Much easier on your wallet and self esteem. Just contact pan for info on those opportunities.

I know the VP and am close friends w one girl in the house. Do I have a chance as a junior? The VP wants me to meet more girls this semester before and I am trying to attend all their events to get to know more girls. Thanks for the reply!

One girl on here keeps talking about house ranks when that's not the important thing. I just want a house where I feel at home.

Honestly if you go into rush knowing what you want out of a house, but also keeping an open mind to all the girls you talk to, then there is no doubt you will find where you are meant to be. Just stay true to yourself.

every house at ou can give someone what they want in a sorority, it just depends on what they’re looking for. it’s hard during rush because people have their own biases. don’t pay attention to “top house” stuff if you don’t feel at home at those houses. just go where you can see yourself and where you feel the most comfortable! see where you have the most geniune conversations and later on during rush, talk to the girls in line and see which groups of girls you click with best
