legacy

The house I am a legacy in states that they put you at the top of the list if you make it to the final round. Do houses in general typically release legacies earlier than later or do they wait and release after 9 party if they plan on doing so

To be honest this really isn't something you should be worried about. Every house has different ways of doing it.... some release as soon as possible others try to give them every opportunity to meet and fit in.

Every house does things a little differently but you can bet no one invites a legacy to pref if they aren't damned sure they want to give her a bid. So a lot of legacies that houses still are questionable about get dropped right before pref. Really nothing you can do about it.

The answers above are solid. No house will drop a legacy during the final pref night to bid stage, but they will release legacies throughout the process. At a school like IU, there are JUST WAY TOO MANY LEGACIES. Each chapter has 50-100 legacies rushing- so that is in some cases, doubled the pledge class number. And chapters change so just because your mom was in a particular house on 3rd street in 1980-1990 doesn't mean that you will fit in there in 2016. If your legacy filled out a form and asked to be notified about your status in recruitment, she will get a call IF you are not getting invited back, so very very late tonight she should get a call if that chapter has its act together.

Not all sororities contact or give the option to contact a member whose legacy is getting cut. So don't assume you're in the clear if your relative doesn't get contacted. Like everything else this varies by sorority.
