Invite girls over or out to coffee, talk to them, decide if we like them/if they fit the house well enough to get a bid.

DPhiE has added 4 or 5 women, still looking at interested women. AGD took 3 or 4, may take more depending on other chapter's COB, got put off by some girls looking at other chapters. Wasn't a cake walk like they thought it would be. ASA and SK should be wrapping up this weekend and giving bids. TPA should be in the process of informal now are starting soon.

I think DPhiE took about 10 more girls so they’re still not close to quota. They’ll probably still take you if you hit them up

Looks like ASA took 8 more girls.

The entire process tiers/non tiers formal informal snap etc sucks and damages the Greek System as a whole and emphasizes the superficialness of sororities. Take a look at every sorority IG and tell me there is something that really differentiates them.

Sororities should be required to say exactly how many informal bids they wil give out so that you know your odds of getting in ahead of time. If you know they are only taking 5 girls, you might opt out or go with another chapters informal. Panel could make this so much easier, not sure what is in it for them to keep things as they are.

^ For the most part, I agree with Liului. If you look at Insta or snap whatever, there really are attractive girls in every chapter!! What separates the chapters isn't really the women, it's how they present themselves. For example, a chapter that is considered top like Pi Phi, Alpha Phi or even XO, just have a more polished presentation. During recruitment, you see blow outs, manicured nails and more fashionable clothing choices. It doesn't even have to be uber expensive, it's just a taste level. Conversely, there are some really cute girls in what people consider lower chapters, when they come through recruitment often times they just don't look as polished, their style may be quirky or more boho or more edgy. The outfits often lack the final polish of accessories. There were times at recruitment when I saw I really really cute girl, but it appeared that she just didn't spend as much time getting ready or could have added a bracelet or necklace and really completed the look.

It's that level of polish that separates the tiers during recruitment. Every chapter has smart, pretty girls!! It's how they package it that differentiates them more so than anything.

@Me - "Informal" is a misused term for what is really COB, or Continuous Open Bidding. The term "informal" makes it sound as if there is another 'mini rush' after formal recruitment, and that's not what it is at all. COB is up to each individual chapter to do or not, and is not organized by panhellenic. No chapter is required to make an announcement, or state how many open spots they might fill, or to fill ANY open spots at all. Chapters don't even have to hold events, because they can just reach out to girls privately and offer bids if they choose to. None of this is up to panhellenic. It's COB.

There is something that separates the chapters, whether it's positive or negative. For some the separation lies in GPA and the chapter's motivation to maintain that GPA. For other chapters, it's a dedication to something like Theta to Little 500. I don't think you can fairly equate lower tier with more academic and upper tier with lesser academic. Every chapter has women who will go on to law school, med school, PhD, etc.

Being more polished may be "smoke and mirrors" to you but to the person interviewing for a coveted job, that polish makes a difference when all other qualifications are equal. Sort of like recruitment, most of the women going through meet the GPA requirement, they were all involved during high school, they are all attractive in their own way. Each chapter looks for something a little different: GPA, involvement, or unfortunately, looks/package.

Obviously you did not read the response carefully. Your answer shows that again you want to create this idea you are superior and I am saying you are not. The facts don’t back up your opinion of yourself. When I say statically I am saying facts. Your house may have some who eventually do ok but the ones who do well on this campus are statically (that means fact not opinion) not in your house. I saw the same girls as you. There are girls who looked basic in those self proclaimed better sororities and those who looked put together in the ones ranked lower on here. When I say certain houses do not have much presence in high level selective career organizations I am basing it on verifiable numbers. I mean numbers and stats not some worthless subjective opinion. Your comments are subjective and based on your opinion. So I will say again since your claim of doing better has just been shown to be false you are trying to create smoke and mirrors. And obviously YOUR idea of being put together isn’t creating career or success in life. Opinions are not absolute so are not based in reality.

Roommate just went through informal. Was called by ASA, DphiE, AGD and SK. She only met with girls from AGD and SK. She was offered a bid this weekend and very happy. Looks like informal may be over, not sure why TPA hasn't really done any informal yet, they didn't make quota and have a huge house to fill. So, ladies there are still some good opportunities out there, but time may be running out.

TPA did make quota and did invite only informal to the girls they wanted?

I have the official Panhel recruitment statistics and no, TPA did not make quota. They matched 54. Therefore they were three short of quota. They also had a ton of drops during first semester because girls living out couldn't afford the dues/live out fees.

TPA did COB right after bid night and now has a full pledge class. So, they are done with informal.

You proved the above poster correct. DUH. TPA did not MAKE quota, they COBed to quota after bid matching which is NOT making quota on the same time the other chapters did.

They also have a large house and have to keep it full or people's fees go up. I thin TPA would be a great opportunity for a girl who still wants to join. They are definitely moving up.

I did not get a bid where I wanted during informal, are there any chapters besides ASA and DPhiE still doing informal?

If you want to be a part of Greek Life which I would highly recommend you really should look into ASA and DPhiE. TPA, AGD & SK all also may be options as well. I would look at their social media pages and contact someone. I would however refer you back to ASA and DPhiE because both are decent chapters and it will be increasinlgy hard for you to rush later on. The houses that you didn't get into this year will likely be no different next year unless it was your GPA keeping you out (this is a real possibility for some) But if it was anything other than your GPA you will likely end up with the same result next time through.

I appreciate the reply. I was hoping for SK and did not get invited to the invitation only event this weekend. I really want to live in a house, so ASA is out for me. Is there a chance that TPA will do informal? Should I contact a girl I know in the chapter? Would that be considered OK?

Sorry SK didn't work out. You can try but TPA hasn't really publicized recruitment. Since you don't want ASA because you want a house, give dphie a try.

tbh, from what i can tell from a friend in the house, the more awk girls are graduating this spring. the new pc seems social/cute, if that's what's holding you back from reaching out

Very random but I would low key love to live in that dphie house it is gorgeous inside and out and I feel like dphie is really stepping up. Asa isn’t getting a house anytime soon, they have a building where they hold chapter that they call home. And TPA is likely to only live in the house for a few years.
