Florida Institute of Technology - FIT Overview

  About Greek Life at FIT

Florida Tech is a small STEM-focused university in Melbourne, Florida, and its Greek system reflects that context pretty clearly. The student body isn't huge to begin with, so the Greek community here is on the smaller, more intimate side compared to what you'd see at a large state school. That said, there are chapters from both IFC and Panhellenic councils active on campus, giving students options on both the fraternity and sorority sides.

On the fraternity side, IFC chapters include some well-known national names like Alpha Tau Omega, Chi Phi, Delta Tau Delta, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Lambda Phi, Sigma Tau Gamma, and Tau Kappa Epsilon. Panhellenic is smaller, with Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, and Phi Sigma Sigma representing the sorority side. There's no NPHC or MGC presence listed currently, which tracks with the overall size of the school.

Rush at a school like this tends to be a lot more low-key than what you'd see at a SEC or ACC flagship. It's informal, relationship-driven, and you're likely getting to know members through class or campus events before you even think about formal recruitment. The engineering-heavy student population shapes the culture — most people here are pretty focused academically, so Greek life coexists with that rather than dominating the social scene.

Chapter housing varies, and Florida Tech doesn't have a traditional Greek Row like you'd find at bigger schools. Philanthropy events and community service tend to be a meaningful part of how chapters stay active and visible on campus. The social calendar exists, but Greek life at FIT is more of a community within the broader campus culture than the central organizing force of student social life. For a school this size, that's pretty typical.
