Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 3.0 The comment below me is claiming the woman was removed when I just checked the Instagram and that woman is still posting about their sorority. I spoke with somebody that used to be in a sorority on Instagram who eased my concerns and I just came back here to check why the ig was and when I did I see the comment below and the girls Instagram still has letters. So is the Instagram user pretending to be in their sorority and obsessed or is theta faking removal of problem members

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 3.2 the drama with The below mentioned member is so weird she’s been removed from the sorority from what I know and she has been acting out anyway and it doesn’t have anything to do with KAT she’s just doing her own thing at this point….. I was sad when the president resigned but now there’s a woman of colour in presidency which I hope will help. I think they are trying to be better but doing a lot of it in silence because they need to work on their members and not their image so why would they post a statement when they need to do so much internally first. They go to events and they’re smart and athletic so that’s cool. Just a lot of unlearning to do here…

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 3.2 After reading the comment below I no longer believe the Greek community is a place I feel safe if this woman is not removed. I was signed up for recruitment but if no action is taken on this issue myself and 2 other pre potential new members will be pulling out. I would never accept a bid from a sorority that keeps this woman in not doing I feel safe visiting their house unless I can be told when this woamn will be there so I can choose parties around it for my own physical safety

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 4.4 Ladies I’m not trying to bash you here, please know that. You are a wonderful bunch, and I like what I’ve gotten to see so far of you! The thetas I have gotten to know and speak with have been nice ladies, and it does seem that many of the problematic women, and those who may have added toxicity have left or graduated, with this years pledge classes really cleaning up their chapter. HOWEVER you need to start getting involved!! They haven’t held a philanthropy event in over a year and a half, and had fiji run casa cup for them instead, since they share casa as a philanthropy. I know you have some kind, beautiful, smart ladies, and we just need to start seeing more. The social media could be more active, as could hosting your own events. You have great girls, don’t be afraid to show them off, and get them involved! Look forward to seeing you more

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 3.9 They definitely have some beautiful girls. Goes to show dg doesn’t recruit based on looks, and both organizations are values based! One of their younger girls does look like dg’s pres based off pics I saw today and compared though. They also seem to have a lot of women in either stem or the arts. Would be nice to see more faculty diversity in the community but what can you do? Overall they’re okay. It seems to be the same 10-15 girls who always go to exchanges and go hard for philanthropy events so maybe some others getting that involved would be good

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 1.0 Despite the previous comment made, the people who are responding on here DO care. Situations like this happen far more often than they should and need to be properly addressed. The fact that Theta has not yet made a public statement (and no the responses in the comments do not count) is extremely concerning.

Kappa Alpha Theta - ΚΑΘ Sorority at University of Alberta - UA 5.0 The stuff that is being posted on here is by people who have no actual interest in understanding what is happening They see something and immediately go to the internet to spread anonymous hate. All situations are being dealt with internally. The blocking of a previous woman of colour was uncalled for and due to an issue with the member running the Instagram and was not a reflection of theta's actions nor in my opinion was it a matter of race. From my understanding, the member/ex-member had a falling out that was not related to the issues brought up in the fall and therefore had no connection as far as I am aware. This is not to say I agree with the blocking, I would just like people to understand that no situation is black or white. Our member development committee met for 3-4 hours for their last two meetings. So please do not perceive that this is being taken lightly or that an investigation is not being done. I suggest that if you want to see the actions being taken as of right now, you look at the comments of the Black History Month post. I think it is shameful to speak on an issue hatefully when you have no legitimate understanding of what is happening. You may ask to hear of actions that are happening but also understand that in situations such as these it is not best to rush. Would you prefer it done with care and thought or quickly to appease the masses.

No matter what happened, they need to remove the member in question from chapter. These are grown women, not kids. We've seen this happen before where they claim to make changes and then don't.
