Tennessee Tech is a mid-size public university in Cookeville, a smaller city in the Upper Cumberland region of Tennessee. The school leans heavily toward engineering, agriculture, and the sciences, and that practical, no-frills culture shows up in how Greek life operates on campus. It's there, it's active, and it plays a real role in social life — but it doesn't define the whole university experience the way it might at a flagship SEC school.

On the fraternity side, IFC governs a solid lineup of chapters that covers most of the major national names — Kappa Alpha, Sigma Chi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Pi Kappa Alpha, Phi Delta Theta, Sig Ep, and others are all represented. Panhellenic runs the sorority side with a handful of chapters including Alpha Delta Pi, Kappa Delta, Delta Gamma, and Phi Mu. There's also Omega Phi Alpha, a service-oriented sorority. The system isn't enormous, but it's established enough that chapters have real identities on campus.

Rush at Tech tends to be more low-key than what you'd see at UT Knoxville or Vanderbilt. Fraternity recruitment is pretty open — you show up, meet people, and go from there. Panhellenic formal recruitment is a more structured process with rounds and preference events, as it is at most schools. The smaller size of the campus actually makes recruitment feel more personal than it does at bigger universities.

Several chapters have houses, and Greek Row has a presence near campus, though not every organization has dedicated chapter housing. Philanthropy is a big part of how chapters stay visible on campus — Greek Week and various chapter-specific fundraisers throughout the year are pretty consistent fixtures in the campus calendar.

Cookeville isn't a huge college town, so Greek organizations do fill some of the social gap that comes with that. Chapters tend to be where a lot of the organized social events happen, especially for underclassmen still figuring out the campus. That said, Tech has a strong intramural and student org culture outside of Greek life too, so it's not the only game in town.
