I didn't join Greek life until sophomore year, which means I had a full year of watching from the outside first. I saw friends disappear into their new chapters fall semester - missed classes, skipped study sessions, showed up to our Tuesday lunches looking like they hadn't slept since bid day. My buddy transferred from a 40,000-student state school to a small liberal arts college with like 2,800 students total. He called me two weeks into fall semester at the new place, genuinely confused. His fraternity chapter had 22 guys. They knew every single member of every single sorority on campus by name.
